The heatwaves continued and the county I live in has officially entered into drought. This was England’s driest July on record, and you can certainly see it. (The header photo was taken a few years ago – during a much more flower-friendly summer.) August promises much of the same.

What I’ve been working on

I’ve had a run of non-fiction copy-edits, which is unusual, but it was an interesting change of pace. The first looked at techniques that could have been used to build ancient monuments, and the second documented an epic bike ride through Europe. The third, an exploration of business use of AI, will take me into August. Of course, I wasn’t totally without a fiction project – I am working on the copy-edit of a children’s novel about the lives of a nomadic people. I’m sure I have said this before, but the range of material I get to work on is sometimes quite staggering.

Looking ahead

Some of the previously mentioned minor home improvements have spilled into August, but otherwise it should be another work-focused month.
